Hi Angelenos, Oh, finally, a holiday season not overshadowed by She of Claremont (formerly She of Pasadena), and more recently head She-wolf >>>gong!<<< of Palo Alto. I had two delicious meals this weekend. The first at Ciao Trattoria on 7th between Figueroa and Flower -- in Los Angeles, silly, but Marilyn Safire couldn't find it any easier than she could find her own asshole with a mirror, a flashlight, and two if not four hands. Antipasti for two (prosciutto, bresaola, arugula, olives, shaved reggiano parmigiano, fresh bufalo mozzarella, two different kinds of freshly baked bread rolls, grilled pickled red peppers, etc.) followed by seafood risotto for my companion (scallops and shrimp with tons of saffron and asparagus spears) and saltimbocca di vitello for me. We then shared an excellent tiramisu before returning to El Estacion de los Estados Unidos and retiring across the street from Olvera Street for aguas frescas (tamarindo for him, limon for me), whilst listening to los mariachis de la calle warble and wail their stuff. But Marilyn is built of sturdier stuff than Italian food. Then I had lunch at Woodlands in Artesia. Sambar, rassam, iddly, masala dosai, spicy lima bean curry, fresh fruit salad, puliyodarai, it goes on. Then we had kulfi. Delish. I hope you Bay Areans keep Marilyn from coming back to LA, or at least from posting her uninformed drivel to Los Angeles newsgroups. Again. Arne adolfsen@earthlink.net

She can't keep things straight so this twisted fixation seems to assist her in dealing with any issues. ObBubbly: Gloria Ferrer Royal Cuvee '97, $23.99 at Bevmo.com. A fine, fine beverage. The Ranger

I liked > the slogan they once had: "Hated by many. Loved > by few. You're not worthy." That slogan fits my lone experience with that aromatically foul, over-hopped, and vile-tasting tonic. I'll gladly be counted as hated in the many and unworthy columns. It's similar to hot sauces that intentionally go after skoville ratings because "hot" is somewhere on the label. BTW: If you liked that particular beer, you might also prefer their IPA. The Ranger

For years (10+) she has consistently crossposted all of her ill-informed food/restaurant reviews of Pasadena and Claremont places from la.eats to ba.food. Once she had her sorry fat ass -- OK, maybe I'm gloating about the fact that she has a fat ass and I don't, but I eat all the butter (one baked potato equals one stick of butter for me) and oil and fat I can handle at one meal (I can and do eat a whole Sara Lee cheesecake in one sitting), which is a lot, I guess, but I don't have high blood pressure or chlorestorol, and I'm 51 years old, 5' 11 1/2" tall and weigh 160 lbs -- well, she had her fat ass dragged up to Palo Alto and immediately started crossposting Bay Area-ational food/resto reviews from ba.food -- reviews that were as equally ill-informed as the crap she posted from SoCal newsgroups formerly -- to la.eats. Just do a Google-search on her name + la.eats or + ba.food. When you get a chance, would you kindly remind her to keep her Internets (or is it Intertubes per Sen. Stevens of Alaska?) reviews/babbling posts about Bay Area restaurants and food places she wants to write about to those within reach of BART and not bore and especially irritate people who live 450 miles or more away, OK? Thank you so much. Arne adolfsen@earthlink.net

Because she 1) appears to be as stupid as a snail, 2) hasn't really ever shown even a superficial knowledge of anything about food or food preparation, ever -- you've got 10 minutes to de-bone, butterfly, and stuff a leg of lamb, Meg, or 20 to explain how it should be done, or 3) should demonstrate her knowledge of worldwide food by explaining the various tastes and textures among the shrimp in New Orleans gumbo, in Valencian paella, and in Hong Kong dim sum's har-gow. I could easily do all three without blinking and I haven't had any technical cooking training at all. #1 I could forgive, but the other two in these kinds of foodie forums are ridiculous. Unless the idea is to share peanut butter and jelly sandwich recipes or tips on how long to leave her strawberry poptarts in the toaster oven or what's the best Wendy's on her way home from work, why is she here? > Annie's an extreme among extremes; a lonely outlier that doesn't add > anything other than noise to a discussion. So, in other words, she has not said or done anything wrong to YOU personally, nor apparently to anybody else. Indeed, you admit she has only posted about food, on food groups no less. Yet you attack her personally... And you deny that you are fucked up in the head. Yeah sure, I'm convinced [rolls eyes]. Ciccio

Yeah sure, I'm convinced > [rolls eyes]. I subscribe to both rec.food.cooking and ba.food. In my experience, the posters on rfc post about cooking, not surprisingly. On ba.food, people post about food, often restaurant food, but sometimes food cooked at home. They don't post about how to cook it. Sometimes, people on ba.food post about ingredients, both which ones to use but mostly where to get them.

heh. can't drink arrogant bastard. way too bitter for me. my best friend gave me a magnum of 'double bastard' two xmas' ago and i still haven't opened it up. he meant well knowing that i love good microbrews, but he didn't know about my experiences with that beer. it is indeed an impressive size bottle and makes for great conversation when friends are over. orlando In article <enemee$c38$2@blue.rahul.net>, axlq <axlq@spamcop.net> wrote: >In article <12pktjv4ts210d2@corp.supernews.com>, >The Ranger <cuhulain___98@yahoo.com> wrote: >>Acting out in her normally confused state, Annie was actually >>braying about Meg. I do love the sense of humor the brewer has about it though... the text on the bottle is quite funny. -A
