There is so much monkey business in agribusiness, from additives
to defoliants, cosmetic waxing of inert, useless produce and megatons
of chemical manipulation of the food chain that it would be a blessing
to pay more for produce if on a widespread basis, it weren't so rotten
and produced in so many corrupt ways by gangsters who don't have to
eat the crap they're heavily subsidized to bring to market.

The migrant labor issue's one small part of the almost total exploitation
of farming. If more Americans were more involved in the growing and
harvesting of the lousy products, they'd be off their broccoli for good.
But what's it going to take to make that happen ? Immigrants, legal
or not, didn't start the agricultural ball rolling into hellish decline.
Corporate "farmers" did. Fighting about immigrants just buys them
more time. If armchair immigration theorists cared as much about the
real craft of farming as they claim to in passing, they'd be taking
other, more effective action.

Support accountable growers only. Shop at local farmers' markets
for all produce and never at chain stores.
