You also have a problem in that most of these organizations are
out-and-out frauds.  I am not insured, so I don't just accept what a
doctor says - I do LOTS of research before I take any medicine or have
any tests .  I am paying for it out of my own pocket, and I don't have
money to waste.

as an elderly diabetic I get tons of mail from frauds willing to promise
anything.  I also have a Dyslexic son, so I get the usual tons of trash
from everyone from Chiropractors to herb merchants.  I was an officer of
a Life Insurance Company for 18 years, and, I can assure you, that if
any of that stuff was real - The Life Insurance companies would pay for
the research.  The biggest boons to Life Insurance Company profits in
the last 20 years were CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver.  Next was the
training of para-medics and last, the development of Shock-Trauma
centers.

Now, let us suppose that you are a typical con man, and the FDA shuts
you down - What are you going to say "It was a great scam while it
lasted' NO you are going to say "They are out to get me !"

Even the "little white lies"  For example St. John's Wort is being sold
as a cure for just about anything except bad credit.  In fact the ONLY
study that shows ANYTHING has a very slight possibility that it may be
of some help with advanced Alzheimer's.  Everything else I has seen haS
either been taken badly out of context, is purely anecdotal, or, is out
and out fraudulent.
