argument. From where I sit, it seems you are saying anyone that would =
own a gun is a nut. Those like Michael Moore who speak against owning =
guns but make sure their bodyguards have them, where do they fall?

  The paranoid nut jobs all think the U.N. or the feds or some "jack =
booted thugs" are coming to kick the doors in and take your guns. Ain't =
gonna happen.=20

  Meanwhile, the rest of us who don't quake like a Frenchman in a wind =
storm don't need a bunch of hillbillies running around with guns in =
their waistbands. It's just asking for trouble. This is modern America, =
not the old west.=20

There is a town in the modern west where everyone started carrying guns. =
When you turn 18, you get your permit, or you sign a waiver saying the =
town can not be held liable if you're robbed, mugged, etc. The crime =
rate has dropped to nothing. The fact is, those you call paranoid nuts =
are many of them realists with a few nuts mixed in. When the extremists =
finally get their laws passed to outlaw all guns, you don't think the =
government will find those who have registered their weapons and collect =
them?

  Oh, and I love your example about the nutcase with the gun. If all the =
paranoiacs, as well as the crooks who run the NRA, would allow =
background check data to remain in place instead of getting flushed =
immediately, we could far more easily weed out the nuts and the criminal =
straw buyers, and keep guns OUT of the hands of people like that guy.=20

Lastly, your argument about weapons that can blow up helicopters and =
those that Bush says "Should only be in the hands of the military" show =
your lack of understanding for the second amendment. If we lose our =
power to rise up and overthrow the government, then we're back where we =
started being oppressed by the British. Now you can go off on some =
tangent about us nuts who want to overthrow the government, etc. But, =
believe it or not, I have no intention of overthrowing the government or =
turning from diplomacy. However I should have the ability if I had to.=20
