If you don't like "missing person" messages, don't read > them. I have to say here that while I find the concept of cops breaking into UseNews to post missing persons reports, especially in regional-discussion newsgroups, to be rather annoying - let me simply say that we have no idea whether or not that message actually came from a cop. It could have easily been a bail-bondsman, a stalking serial killer with the bucks for a 800 number and a reddirect, a debt-collector or some other sleazy weasel. There's enough amateur sleuths and busybodies on the net, and Wanted Web Pages would be a more appropriate place to post wanted posters. > > 2.) The government monitors _everything_ on the internet. But most things don't trip the programs that rings bells and whistles and attract the attention of a real human person who might then decide to focus on you in particular. > > -- > David B.
