Beware USN Communication is a fly by night rip off

Below is a copy of the email I sent to USN communication after we
switched to them from Ameritech back in October.

Back in early fall, one of your telephone solicitors, caught my wife and
home and talked her into switching from Ameritech, to your company. A
move I never would have authorized. After our caller ID was screwed up
in the first month, and items came on the first bill that I didn't
understand, I called your customer service line. After waiting more than
an hour, something that never happens with Ameritech, I hung up and
called Ameritech and switched our service back to Ameritech. I have paid
Ameritech in full for both my lines for the months of November and
December. I have the copies of the bill available. Today I received a
bill for your company for the month of December and back payments from
previous month. Despite what your sales people said, my bill went up
with your company. That however is irrelevant as I quit your suspect
company back in the month of November. We have paid your company for
October, the only service we got. I waited on hold for an hour tonight
and heard to email this address. Please zero out our balance and close
the account and add us to your DO NOT CALL marketing list. You guys are
the worst utility company I have ever had to deal with.

Wow! When I saw the subjectI thought I had posted this when I was
sleepy.

USN managed to cut off my 1-800 and could not get it back on when my
company switched to them. They then switched all my long distance
when I just wanted them as a local carrier.

They never, ever ever returned a phone call. They promised me a $100
credit for the 1-800 problems. I switched back to Ameritech and 6,
yes SIX months later i got my one and only bill from USN. No credit.
They then sent the same one every month there after.. Each time I
called and explained I would pay if they would apply the credit, each
time they would see the note in the bill about the credit, and say
someone would call me back. No one ever, ever called back.

Finally I called the PUCO (the phone number is on the bill) This
resulted in a bizarre letter from USN where they stated they had
applied the credit but it didn't show? and they would send me a check
for $100. and I presumed a new bill. What have I gotten so far? 4
Weeks later? Nothing...

AVOID USN! They offer no savings, all hassle and have the worst
customer support I have ever had the misfortune of running into. When
a supervisor promises they will call you back the next business day,
and they don't... you have problems.

CALL THE PUCO!

Thanks for writing Chet, At least there is comfort in not being alone. Thanks
for the PUCO suggestion, I was going to try the AG office.
