What you need cannot be done with any certainty yet. Even your apache that you think you have working right now isn't really. For it to work, it needs to speak http/1.1, but there are many people out there still using older browsers which only speak http/1.0 -- they will never see any of your virtual domains. As for mail, you could easily map mail addresses to other mail addresses (for example, sales@acme.com could map to acsales@your.domain, and you would give the user a login id of 'acsales' on your machine). However, there is no way to have virtual shell machines using current available software (telnet doesn't support it in any way -- you could hack the code, but I don't know where you'd get code for the MS and Mac versions of telnet). For your setup to truly work, you will need separate IPs. From what I understand, there is work being done on new ways of virtual hosting which will be transparent to the end users and the server admins, but I'm not sure when the standards will emerge. -- Scott Barker Linux Consultant scott@mostlylinux.ab.ca http://www.cuug.ab.ca:8001/~barkers/ (under construction) [ I try to reply to all e-mail within 3 days.
