<maurer.711231291@magellan.stanford.edu> In <maurer.711231291@magellan.stanford.edu> maurer@nova.stanford.edu (Michael Maurer) writes: >yes: the image of Lena's face is a cropped portion of a Playboy photo, I >think the centerfold from October 1972. I looked up the pictorial in >the library once; it's pretty tame by today's standards. Well, I also remember something related on an issue of Optical Engineering (?): Playboy Magazine, apparently, got to know about the many copies of Lena's picture appearing in one earlier issues, and sent in a letter of complaint (or stronger?). So there was this note from an editor of OE, saying that they told Playboy nicely that this magazine is not comercial but educational (or such), and seem to have solved the problem for then. But the editor goes on to say that people should check out whether the photos are copyrighted when they use them in future articles. Maybe we won't see Lena that much any more in the future. -- Duanfeng He (Jackson) Duanfeng.He@AtlantaGa.NCR.COM
