Without belaboring the point...

Oh look! What a collection of mathematical puns, and put together in
     a story. How amusing!

Oh, but the story portrays the assault and rape of a woman. That's a
real problem, in which real people are physically and mentally scarred,
and from which recovery is difficult. It has been compounded in the
past by an attitude that projects the 'blame' onto the victim or that
refuses to recognize this violence as a crime at all, because 'boys
will be boys.' And it is a crime that is only recently being recognized
as a crime of violence against the individual. Since this recognition
is so late in coming, there are probably a lot of people who are
sensitive to the issue, and will be mad as hell if someone suggests,
in whatever way, that rape should be considered in any other way.

Reversing the genders does not really convey the same emotion since most
men never have to worry about it (note the 'most'...there are exceptions to
everything). Maybe a 'funny' story full of puns about war atrocities, read
to the victims, would produce more comparable results.

What a bunch of idiots. You all act as if this 'Impure' text
is going to be the holy writ for a vile new empire. No
chance. The 'PC' people are screaming about 'sensitivity'
towards rape or whatever ... the hell with it. Deal with
your own problems and keep the government and censorship
out of it. What do you all expect ... 'Instant Civility'
(as defined by the PC) ? Sorry, but it will not happen.
If you want to change attitudes, it will take literally
	*generations*.

Social and cultural issues cannot be rendered as empirical
logical decisions. There is no 'right' way that any person
can deviate from. If the 'Impure' author thought rape might
be funny under some circumstances ... then he did. Tough
shit. Who will offer proof positive that a severely predatory
male-oriented universe is *not* the better way ? You cannot
do it. Cultural matters are relative.

Since this is a 'sci' newsgroup ... take it as a Darwinian
thing ... the more children you father - by whatever means -
the more your genes will be preserved for the future. In
this context, 'Curly Pi' and his aggressive attitude will
win out. Aesthetics pales against genetic survival.
