Composer Mallett strikes again:

"Part of Mallett's mission, beyond discovering a way to travel through
space, is to educate the general public about science. Many people
have a romanticized view of scientists, he says, adding there is a lot
of work involved in discovering new theories and then trying to prove
or disprove them. Scientists face struggles every day, he says. "The
life of a scientist is a lot like writers and composers," he says.
"There are the same struggles, the same desire to create, the same
passions and same emotional ups and downs."

The only problem:

"The scientists need $250,000 to carry out the first phase of the
experiments. The nonprofit UConn Foundation has set up a tax-
deductible account for donations. So far, they've raised $5,000 but
have yet to apply for any grants."
