Well i mooooved the DSL modem from off the top of the computer as advised; joined news:bellsouth.net.support.adsl as advised, and am still not getting connected in the morning. Not only that now i am getting bombed severely, especially when i click on news:bellsouth.net.support.adsl from my news reader. Donot say it is the news reader, because as you can see i am having no trouble when using my local, home-town dial-up. Pamini PS the DSL modem (Home) is now back on the top of the computer, since i had better luck with it there; as i didnot get bombed nearly as often, however it is unplugged at the moment.

Pamini, If you can read what I've posted over the last six months about my Mom's USB 'Stingray' DSL problems, what you're posting here is a duplicate of just about everything. FINALLY, this Wednesday she received the Ethernet Speed Touch Home DSL modem from BellSouth. I installed it late Wednesday evening and she's been surfing and happy ever since. Based on what we've gone through over there since last fall, I'd have to say that your USB modem is going bad and you need to persist with BellSouth to get them to send you the Ethernet modem. It will require the installation of an NIC card, but they're less than $20. In fact, I got one for her at Office Depot on Wed. $19.99 - $7.50 Instant Rebate - $7.50 Mail-in Rebate = $4.99 final cost. The filters that you have at the phone jacks now will stay. It was a rather painless conversion and she's been thrilled with the service. Good luck! You should get the NIC card with the modem. I did. -Ian "Lewis Turner" <lewturn0@nospam.bellsouth.net> wrote in message news:w4nO8.33026$T05.1567796@e3500-atl2.usenetserver.com... > Pamini, > If you can read what I've posted over the last six months about my Mom's USB > 'Stingray' DSL problems, what you're posting here is a duplicate of just > about everything.
