1) You are posting from Canada. One must assume that you are a
Canadian. Why are you commenting on an American bike club meeting?

2) Critical Mass has done exactly what they claim to have done -
raised the awareness of bicyclists in every city in which they have
gathered. In some cases any publicity is good publicity - this is one
of those cases. People may get angry when they see bicyclists acting
stupid in traffic now but they are FAR more likely to see them. And
since most drivers aren't homicidal maniacs, claims to the contrary,
they are in a better position to leave them room.

3) Since Critical Mass (which, BTW, I abhor) came into being,
governments everywhere have begun anew making room on city streets for
bicyclists and pedestrians after a half century of neglect and
auto-centric thinking.

I might even one day ride a Critical Mass ride just to see if any of
the claims are true or if they are the same stupid media lies that are
actually the norm these days.

So don't think because you or I haven't had much use for these people
that they haven't done a hell of a lot for us. Because they have.
