Nice ideas!   In "my war" I got a little care package that actually was a
little bag filled with various goodies.

Also, in "my war" the mail home was FREE.    All we had to do was put our
return address (APO, etc) in the regular place and write "FREE" where the
stamp would go.   I would hope  that our government would do this same for
our guys in the east.
