Is it to late to change to Costello or even Turnball ?

Watched Costello last week on the 7-30 report. Carried himself very
well.

I thought there was going to be a debate with Costello and Swan on
Sunday night but nothing on the ABC or any other channel. How
disappointing.

I think if Costello had a debate with Rudd, Costello would easily beat
Rudd in any debate.

Looks like Rudd will win easily, and then it will take Rudd about two
years to mess up the economy. Costello will then lose the next federal
election due to the ALP winning by the biggest landslide in 2007. This
will take a couple of elections to come back from.

Turnball to lead the Libs back into government in 2013 and then run a
strong economy. He seems a man with a good brain and has the x factor
where no other polition does in either party.

I think if the Libs moved to Costello now they may have a chance at
this years election. The ALP dropped Hayden for Hawke 4 weeks out from
the 1983 federal election.

If the Libs put in Turnball and Boshop on the ticket then this would
show up Rudd and Gillard and I think the polls would turn quite
dramatically.

Howards been a great PM. Time looks up for him. Hope the Libs don't go
with the flow because it could be a nightmare landslide against them
if they just let it flow as is the case now.

# I agree mostly with your analysis and predictions.
The Libs look like losing in a landslide, but might have a chance by
switch in leadership even at this late stage.
On the other hand, if Costello was made leader, who would replace him as
treasurer? Costello is less popular with the electorate than Howard,
according to polls - but would installing Turnball now, make the difference?
Probably, the "It's time!" factor is at work, and whatever the Coalition
does, it is doomed - people want a change of govt, on matter what.
Incidentally, I heard that the intended debate of Costello vs. Swan is
scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, on ABC-TV - but can't be sure. Please
check.

I can't find a telecast mentioned anywhere - not in the articles following the
announcement, not on the ABC website (just says 7.30 Report), and not on the Sky
News website.

Not really. Smug and smirking as usual.

Tomorrow.

Academic point. Party leaders do not debate party deputy leaders.

As Rudd says, you think the sky will fall in with a Labor government. The last
one was elected five times in a row, so that view is a bit hard to fathom.

An eternity away in politics. Don't waste your time thinking about it.

It wouldn't make any difference. People already know they'd be voting for Howard
and then getting Costello.

Hawke was very popular. Costello isn't.

Bishop? Julie Bishop? (You couldn't possibly mean Bronwyn.)

Why?

No, he's been an awful PM. A disgrace.

And it's about time it was.

A nightmare landslide is exactly what they, and Howard in particular, deserve.

Turnbull is being used as the fall guy on environment, pretty soon even
the faithful will see through him. Even those who like him will have to
be prepared to see him retire to whatever oblivion this sacrifice
condemns him to. Maybe the libs think we will swallow it or maybe it's
Turnbull's big test - if he can pass off that crap he can proceed to the
next level... Bob Hawke style.

Personally, I doubt it. Rudd could simply invite Costello to develop
his ideas on why the banks have no business putting up rates. If Swan
has half a brain, he'll ask Costello that. There's no answer Costello
can give to that which doesn't make him look less credible.

I believe a more interesting debate would be between either John
Howard or Peter Costello and Malcolm Turnbull to see who should get
the job of leading the Liberal Party on the other side of the
election.

Maybe all three coul make their pitch -- Howard for 18 months,
Costello and Turnbull for three years.

Are you an idiot, Flan? The banks have no business putting up rates
because its not their prerogative. Its the role of the Reserve Bank.

Sure they do. The reserve bank is only the bank that does the official
cash rate to other banks. Private banks can charge their customers
what they like. Costello was lecturing them the other day saying that
in his opinion, they shouldn't put rates up. You're the one who is
clueless.

The banks can do what they like. They aren't run by the government. Costello
only thinks he can tell them what to do, which just goes to show how power has
gone to his head.

It's amazing to see all the turds rising to the top: Costello, Abbot,
and Turdball think they have what it takes to run the Liberal Party -
will they ever cotton-on to the fact that they are revolting
duplicitous turds, hated by the electorate, and chief instruments of
the Liberals' imminent demise?

(I didn't include Downer : he's much to funny to be a turd).

I think you are worried that if theywere to be leaders Rudd would be
in trouble which is why you posyed what you did.

I think if Costello had Julie Bishop as his number two then this would
make a huge difference. Julia Bishop is a brilliant speaker and a good
brain and has personality. Turnball could be the treasurer, after all
he's been a successful merchant banker. I thik that team would swing
the vote around. Of course if that happened Howard would resign now
and they would lose his current seat to the ALP.

I think its worth taking a chance. As it is now the ALP will win
easily.

The LIBS will at least have control of the senate up to July next
year. The Libs could let Rudd lose and let him mess up the economy or
they could block his every move up to July. If they block Rudd the
economy will be fine up to July. If they let Rudd run amock then Rudd
will destroy the economy but the Libs will be blamed for agreeing with
Rudd.

If I was the Libs I'd block supply and force another election abot
March next year by which time Rudd will have broken all his promises
because he can't get anything through the house.

If its 12-30pm no one will be watching. Would be better if it was in
the 7-30pm time slot. I like watching the 7-30 report, the last of the
true current affair programs.

You are a stupid parrot.

We have a strong, modern economy thanks to the reforms of Keating's
"labor" government.

The libs have added essentially nothing and subtracted a lot, in the
form of subsidies for crap like private health care and selling off
excellent money-making machines like Telstra.

The Workchoices bullshit is already hurting businesses and it will
only get worse while we wait for the entire mess to be rolled back..

Costello & Abbott spell trouble for the Liberals, not the Labor party.
Get rid of them and hire some people with brains.
