I have a fairly new Dell and the home page that is listed as the "Use Default" is Dellnet.com. I would like to change it so it will be my actual home page and not Dell's. Every time I enter the one I use as my home page it is okay, but if I click on the "Use Default" it switches to the dellnet.com one.

The easiest way is to manually go to the page you wish to use as your homepage, then click on the Tools menu and select Internet Options, In the Homepage (top) section, click the Use Current button, then Apply. None of those things work. Dell installs something that 'grabs it back' at boot. Don't know what it is, but the Dell tools of some sort. Same here. Every time I go on the web it's to someplace different, so why would I even want to set a home page? If I were forced to set one, I would probably point it to Google.

Some of the current crop of malware will cause that to happen. I would have thought that the regedit change would take care of it though. Do you have either (or both) Ad-Aware or Spybot? Both are great FREE software for removing spyware and other "malware" stuff that not only "phones home" but causes windows to crash more frequently that "normal." If you don't have them, do a google search on the above names and include the word "spyware." Ray

If you tell it to use default, which you already know is Dell's page, why are you surprised when it does it? Seems to make perfect sense. What you want is for it NOT to use the default so stop clicking on that button. Navigate you whatever page you like, click on "use this page" and if you don't click anything else it shouldn't change again. -- John McGaw [Knoxville, TN, USA] Return address will not work. LMAO @ Mike C. I own 2 Dell's and they are as good or better than any computer I've worked on. And I don't believe that Dell installs something to "grab" the homepage back at bootup. It's not the computer, its the user. Set your homepage and don't click on use default unless you want to edit the registry first. The thing that EVERYBODY forgets to do is after you change the url in the box or/to make it a default URL, whicheverone you choose, YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE AND HIT APPLY! otherwise all your changes are for naught. I actually accused a tech support person of doing that on purpose. I had to apologize to them when he told me what I was doing wrong, but DAMN! I was glad to find that out! Also there is malware that keeps changing the tool bars too, and there is no easy way to get rid of that, even by modifying the registry, but there is a command called FORMAT that usually takes care of that...and everything else too, unfortunately.

When you hit 'ok' it performs an apply and close operation for you. You you use the 'x' at the top right of the window, it does not apply the changes (unlless of course you clicked 'apply') and just closes the window.

But if you read the post carefully he wants to change the "default" page (normally Microsoft with unbrandend Windows installs, or Dell in this case). This can only be changed by editing the registry. Do a search for "dellnet.com" in the registry and change it there. Remember to back up your registry first if you are not familiar with what you are doing.
