Looks like atcon playing a cruel game to recruting customers from iSTAR. I would be curious to know how many atcon customers did have problems with their provider. In article <4h59dc$fls@thor.atcon.com>, desroute@atcon.com says... > > We am looking for people who are or have experienced any or all of >the following problems from Istar in Nova Scotia: > .... Well... I can't help but be suspicious... I realize that I have spoken badly of iSTAR on occasion, but I now realize the phenomenal problems a service provider *must* be experiencing with connections being subscribed to at the rate they are. To be honest, I think iSTAR has taken some excellent steps in improving customer relations lately. There are still growing pains, but I think they have developed a future plan which will meet our needs for some time to come. The crunch for NSTN came with the merger. I'm sure we all realize the organizational nightmare that must have ensued. But the new iSTAR is starting to settle in, and service *has* improved greatly. For example, I would challenge the original poster to let me know the last time he had a busy signal with Atlantic Connect. I am a prime time user with iSTAR and have not gotten one busy signal in about 6 weeks now. It amazes me every time I connect with the first ring. Obviously, the request to compile complaints is a personal one. I can't see another provider using such underhanded tactics. But I fail to see the reason for it. I, for one, am very curious as to the nature. And not stating this in the message is a little cowardly. I believe Mr. Sweet should make his intentions known. Is it possible a new provider is trying to recruit? Does Mr. Sweet think he can petition iSTAR? Is he possibly trying to launch legal action? Mr. Sweet... How can you expect people to blindly respond to such a request knowing full well that you intend to use the information for some unstated purpose? I would never respond to such a suspicious advert. If you had been more professional, you might have been taken seriously. Darren Martell "When the grass looks greener... it's probably been spray painted!"

I heard many good things about iStar (the least amount of busy signals is one.)

If it is Atlantic Connect, then I believe that you would be getting less service if you switched. I have never (knock on wood) had a busy signal since I signed up in Sept. and I use this thing at slack and peak times everyday for work. The one time I had a problem it was with my E-Mail and it was rectified well within 24 hours. Being in the customer service business, I appreciate the effort. There will be difficult problems to resolve with internet connections; this is uncharted territory. I know some of the staff personnally and I'm sure that they take your concerns seriously. I do laugh at some of my friends who are with other providers and can only reliably get on when I'm in bed. Sure they are saving money, hehe. I hope the other ISP's can bring their level of service up to NSTN's level but of course that is just my opinion for what it is worth. HI: In general I have had good service from Istar since I signed on from another provider. However, I have had problems shutting down after running in good shape and signing in. If your company is not giving out the top software up to date etc and knows of any other ways to have their customers machines tweeked to top perfomance which will reduce long term problems. Is there any information such as how to download new Netscape, new Pegasus, update baud for higher compression fro source. This should come in very easy readable format from Istar. I realize that it is expensive to have teckies helping all the time but this is not a phone system where a four year old can learn it in a few minutes. Remember it is your customers that are your biggest advertisers, if people are not happy they will go to another provider like I did. thanks for asking, Gary W. I am VERY happy with iStar.. You might want to try this bait over at ISIS. I hear they have a fairly unhappy group there. ... ... at least that's how their newsgroup reads. Happy Fishing.
