GUESS WHAT? gts.torfree.net is actually a name server for a domain called
TLS.COM. This means that its is a commercial one! May be a telephone to
(905) 836-6108 (the administrative contact) would prove fruitful (but
again may be not).

As I was trying to traceroute (again) gts.torfree.net the trace program
gave it as ns.tls.com

Of course I followed that by whois tls.com... No need for guessing!! GTS
(i.e. Bruce and Company) is the system administrator. The question that
buugles the mind is that there seems to be only name servers associated
with this doamin name. No 'accessible' www site (well, may be still work
in progress, or it may end up being the 'unknown' torfr-hst that was
unnecessarily added to the TFN Internic registration!!

GUESS WHAT? csas.torfree.net is really a name server for csas.com, again
see the traceroute. Well, after all they were kind enough to change the
TFN registration to include NS.GTS.NET (which is actually on the TFN
office) to the registration. How generous Bruce and company are!!!

Of course they did not miss the chance of adding NS.torfree.net to the
CSAS name servers, scratch my back and I'll scratch yours you may say, but
then most probably you are Geoffrey Gies, because you do not get the
point.

GUESS WHAT? if.torfree.net and xor.torfree.net are no longer traceable!!!!
In our earlier investigation (me and Nathan Richards), they were both
traceable, but not functioning. Now they are gone!!

<sigh> Is there anyone out there who feels up to the challenge of
explaining to a paranoid middle-aged novice user what the advantage of
linking to multiple off-site name servers is? And how this is actually a
donation of services _to_ TFN rather than anything stolen from it? My
patience is about evaporated dealing with this luddite...

A while back I discussed a number of options with legal council regarding
Nabil.

If we went after Nabil for libel, we would almost certainly win, but so
what, the TFN would be out legal costs, and as we gather Nabil has almost
no assets, well, we would collect almost nothing (ie: probably not even
enough to cover costs).

Another option would be to get a restraining order, but I am told that
such orders are VERY hard to obtain. In the view of the lawyer I was
speaking to was the high amount of effort required to try and get a
restraining order is not worth it, given the low chance of actually
getting such an order.

In other words going after Nabil at this point in time would be a waste of
TFN volenteer time, and TFN money. Still, in an odd sense I do hope Nabil
does go to the media with his brain dead stories (TV/radio stations, and
newspapers have assets :-) . Alternately they could do a story on the
shockingly bad state of mental health care in this Province, and how some
basket cases are using computers unattended :-) ).

Put another way, unless Nabil does something TOTALLY COMPLETELY INSANE
(as opposed to his current more than slightly nuts), it would appear
that Nabil is safe from legal action. Still, the above notes should do
nothing to stop all of us from telling Nabil how he keeps acting like
a total mindless jerk (and other less than wonderful things).

Sound practice. I know a bit of law, but a little learning can be a
dangerous thing...

True. (Although maybe enough to teach Nabil a little restraint.)

I don't know how much you told this lawyer about the particulars of the
situation, but it is true that a restraining order is relatively
difficult to get (i.e., costly). But we could take up a collection
rather than taking it directly from TFN funds. Heck, the way Nabil's
going you might get more donations for _that_ than we are for TFN itself...

Given the competence of the media in dealing with issues generally, I
wonder if it's wise to rely on them to see where the sense is. How many
reporters fell for Baptista as an "expert?" But we could hope ;-)

Probably better if other members do this rather than board members, or
failing that the board members should be circumspect. Points raised
elsewhere about the TFN "management" attacking members have some merit.
(BTW, Dmytri should be commended for his recent display of greater
restraint.)

Well, we can all settle for a small claims court!!! Would you like that?
I certainly appreciate it.

Another thing is that my attack is on CSAS, not the TFN. So what TFN has
to do with this? I certainly do not want to harm the TFN, just whoever is
really in charge of the sorry state of affairs that the TFN is going through.

If the board is not accepting the responsibility of investigating and
taking action to verify my claims and assert its authority (after all the
board is supposedly to be the one that is accountable) and clarify why
such fundamental decisions were not passed by the board before
implementation (including Bill Chow's remark about blocking e-mail sites
such as hot.mail that have an anti-spam policy) of say changes in
internic registration, why Bruce Becker is using the TFN name servers for
'business sites' like the lst.com, etc, etc.

I have done my duty as a TFN member. Now that I posted these 'claims' to
the newsgroups, in addition to doing my duty as a citizen by informing
the authorities - whether they take it seriously or not is up to them and
for time to prove - I also have put you in the corner of being
publicly-informed.

You see, this is my strategy. You (and other board members) do not have
the alibi of 'not knowing'.

I know this may be realized very soon by all board members and frankly I
am expecting some of them would have to resign, which is a good thing as
actually a new elections and a new TFN president, a new functioning
Excutive Committee (please remember that there is no posts in the
excutive director area about the functioning of the TFN since this board
took power.

The excuse that you are volunteers and do not have the time does not hold
any longer, as you knew that before nominating yourself to the board.
When you voluinteer to do something, you better do it.

Besides, all of the previous boards were volunteers too and did a pretty
good job.

So shut up or put up Colin McGregor. You will be remembered in the
history of the community network as the man who could have done something
that could have saved the TFN but chose not to.

I am not your problem, so get focused on your duty. Bruce Becker offering
his 'free' services to the TFCN is no justification to let him has his
way with the TFN.

I shall ask you a direct question as the president of TFCN (not TFN),
where is the TFCN server is located and what is that place that has 100
lines that Bruce said he has for that purpose?

If you would like to link this to my previous post about 'How many lines
does the TFN has?", it is up to you.

Sincerely,
