DOES EVERY WOMAN PLAY HEAD GAMES???

Look,

All I want is to meet a woman who will not play head games and is
sincere about developing a long-term relationship with an intelligent,
attractive, strong and loving man.

I've posted before and gotten lots of replies from women who seem to
be either toying around with personal ads, or who are so screwed up
that they do not know how to open their minds or hearts to anyone.

It doesn't matter much where you live, although I'd like to meet a
Florida woman, because I am buying a house there in January.

I am a complex person who like a simple life: watching TV late at
night; taking frequent road trips for fun and adventure; spending
Saturday mornings making love.

I enjoy theatre, flea markets, drives to nowhere and generally just
being with the person I love.

If you are looking for a guy who will shoot you straight, love you
long and just be your best friend, please write to me. If you want to
join me in Florida after the first of the year, that's cool. If you
have somewhere else you'd like to live, let's talk about it. I'm free
and open.

I'm considered very talented and attractive and I am sure you will not
be disappointed. I am intensely loyal, passionate and I don't screw
around on the woman in my life. I'll give everything I have of myself
and my possessions to the right woman.

My preferences have always been toward slender, light haired women,
though there may be someone out there who can ignite a spark that does
not fit that category and I'm more concerned with the content than the
cover, anyway.

Due to my past experience with personals postings, I am reluctant to
respond to anonymous emailers.

If you have a long list of specific preferences about religion,
politics, books read, foods preferred or that kind of surface stuff,
then I probably would not fit your picture.

If you want to build a lasting, loving relationship from the soul, and
are ready to give it your best shot, then drop me a line.

You can be anywhere from 20 to 50 - I'm somewhere in the middle of
that range, myself and my life has shown me that age is not a factor
that should be given that much credence, anyway. I've known 20 year
olds who act like 50 and 50 year olds who act like teenagers. I'd
just like to find someone who is young enough in mind and heart to act
like a kid sometimes, but who is mature enough to know what it means
to be in an exclusive relationship.

The woman who wins my heart will enjoy a life of love and laughter and
will have found the best friend she will ever know.

Please write.

j,

i might be able to help you out here with your problem of
meeting too many women who are "so screwed up". here are a couple
of warning signs to tell you when a particular lass is not completely
right in the head:

first, if she's a "florida woman" or one from elsewhere who is
looking for a florida guy, and she looks for him in local newsgroups
ofr new york, philly, atlanta, dallas, houston, san francisco, nevada,
etc, etc, etc, she's probably not all there mentally.

if she's looking for that perfect guy in a newsgroup whose
charter specifically prohibits personal adverts, such as the majority
of those in which you posted, she might be a little too alternatively
clued for a stable relationship.

if she reads three copies of the same post in any one newsgroup,
and she responds more favorably to the third copy than she would if
she only saw one copy, then she may push the blonde stereotype a bit
too far even for a guy who likes light hair.

good luck with your search. if you follow these subtle clues
you might find a lady with a more stable approach to things.

So, you think the best way to do this is to write an article which implies
that all women play head games because you can't find one that doesn't.
So it's the women's fault that you're not in a relationship? Do you really
expect some woman to come along and prove you wrong now?

The bad news is that you can either be right or have a relationship -- not
both. The good news is that you get to choose.

In the post above, you are choosing to be right about women. You are correct
that they play head games. You can continue being right -- It's OK -- and you
will continue looking. Or you can consider the possibility that women don't
play "head games", and have a relationship with one.

Happy choosing,

- Steve

Why is it that when men and women think a different way about the same
thing, it is always that the women are playing a head trip and the men
are not paying attention to what the women are saying? Guys and Gals,
lets try to listen to what the other person is saying! Instead of
trying to figure out how to answer the other person, listen to what
they are saying first!!!

OK Dave, I recall a vaguely similar post on another thread where
someone tried to play the 'sensitive 90's guy'. Was that you?
As I recall, he was told that his tactic probably wouldn't get
him laid any more often. I think the same applies here.

If, on the other hand, you are really interested in the ways
that men and women (mis)communicate, let me suggest some reading
material. "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" by John Gray.
It was helpful for me, I only wish I had read it *before* my
marriage fell apart. YMMV.

I'm female, and I agree that most women, the vast majority of them, do play head games. I
know this because I hear other women talking about it. Why make a guy go see a movie (like
"Boys on the Side") that he is totally disinterested in? Why make a guy who doesn't like to
get dressed up go to a place where he has to? Why make all these demands?

I sometimes wonder if I'm the only female on Earth who asks these questions...they explain why
I do not get along with other women very well. However, I also wonder if men *like* being
treated like shit, because every relationship I've ever had has been god-awful. The only good
relationship I ever had ended yesterday because the guy decided to move 4000 miles
away (without me, of course)...because his best friend lives there. I guess his friend will
introduce him to someone thinner and better-looking, albeit a bitch who complains constantly.
I guess that's what men want.

I can't be a sensitive guy, I am a right wing waco with a 45 on my
hip. But I can try to be considerate. Men and women are different,
much more different than different guys!!! Now I am reading Tim
Allen's book, "Don't stand next to a naked guy" It to is about how
men and women miscommunicate! <g>

What about when men start to play head games, what is that called?
This isn't limited to a sex, is existed all over the place. Some men
are control freaks. So the gal learns to nag to get what she wants
and also a little bit of begging.

So suddenly she is playing a head game to get what she wants, and he
isn't? He is playing too, and she started to play the game. However
maybe she started the game, and now he is getting into it too. She
wants to be controlled and he finds out that he likes controlling her.

Actually it is not. I feel that men and women are both enamored of the idea that the grass is greener in Pasadener. Haven't you broken up
with someone and later thought that their bad points were better
than the good ones of someone you are involved with now?
I would suspect that he will have these thoughts sooner or later.

Read sone of the marriage and family books, especially
Harville Hendrix.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Well, maybe the men _you've_ had
relationships with liked to take your shit, whatever that happened to be.
But please don't generalize that to all men. Maybe it's got something to
do with your psychological make-up. But all men do not like being treated
as you suggest. It sounds like you've got a preconcieved idea of how it's
going to be and then it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. I hope you
have better luck in the future.

Well this is one man who 1) will speak out when a woman is doing mean crap
to me, and will leave (I told my ex-fiancee' where she could go, several
times - she kept coming back though...). But my current girlfriend treats
me VERY right - and I reciprocate almost religiously.

I guess I can safely say that this world is a place in which RIGHT is
wrong and WRONG is right...

Then how about VIRTUOSITY? I love that soundtrack, and I love the movie.
And my attitude towards Traci Lords has been budged by about half a gauge
(from "slut" to "hey this woman shows some promise!" - I doubt she'll
ever reach "what a babe!" on my personality gauge :). She did the song
"Fallen Angel" and the first stanza directly described what I went through
back in March. The second stanza - the last one (there seem to only be 2)
- spoke exactly of what I'd been trying to do for myself, healing the pain
from the inside - and it described exactly what Nancy did when we fell in
love on May 9. Traci Lords actually (did she write the lyrics herself??)
made a song that had more SUBSTANCE than anything I've ever heard from
Madonna! Coming from a porno queen, that's got to be a MAJOR improvement.
:)

Now, what woman would ever appreciate such musings? I wouldn't dare
attempt it. But we're expected to appreciate soap operas?

As lame movies go, this one's gonna take the cake and achive cult status
as being the only movie about hackers that is the FURTHEST from the
truth! And I thought Plan 9 from Outer Space was bad- whooo... ;->

I feel some women do this in an effort to "bring out" what
they would like to see in their man, regarding his feelings

Some like those skinny bitches, some, including myself,
prefer a bit more depth and personality to a woman. Of

Not this man. That's the difference between my current sweetie, and my ex
fiancee'. My ex and I broke up shortly after I hurled her shit back at
her, whereas Nancy and I treat each other very, very right. (Though I must

Looks are unimportant. I mean I do move my eyeballs in the direction of an

Kind of reminds me of the emotional vampire subset of the NICE GUY type.

Doesn't anyone one see what people are doing in this thread? The originator
writes an implication that "women" play head games. A woman responds,
"but men play head games too". Men do this, Women do that. But women
do it first. Did not, Did too. ......Mommmm, Billy's looking at me.

Some people play head games, some people don't. Stop pointing fingers
at each other because of your relationship (or lack of) problems and start
trying to communicate. Stop blaming the opposite sex "in general" for
your problems. If someone that you encounter seems to be playing what
you consider to be head games call them on it and communicate your
displeasure to that person. People can whine and complain all they want
in front of the 100,000 or whatever people that read these groups but
it's not going to do a bit of good. The person that you should be talking
to is the person that you think is playing the head games.

No, Men *love* being treated like shit. I've done some truly mean
things to men, and they still relentlessly kept on in their pursuit for
months, even years.
The men I was nice to, on the other hand, dumped me within a few weeks.

This leads me (and many other women) to believe that if you act like a
psychotic bitch (well, that's an extreme - simple indifference will
do), men will stick around.

You, my dear, are a total Loon! What you're talking about is Asshole-men.
The men that *you* are interested in are simply the ones of the Asshole
variety, much like the guys who's object of desire are the Asshole-Women.

Both groups are the same. Treat others like shit, and make sure to go
after those who have some social short-coming like low self-esteem,
chronic shyness, etc.

I sometimes wonder if these folks don't create each other. Once someone
who has been "burned" multiple times finally stands up and stops taking
this kind of abuse, they're prone to becoming the next generation, so
to speak, of these socio-paths, propogating the behavior ad infitum...

If you're lucky, you'll start to pull away from the abusers AND the abused.

Meet a manipulator, walk away. Meet a wimp (male OR female) walk away.
Simple as that.

Not this man, thank you. Remember, all generalizations are false-
including this one. You just lumped ALL men into your little claim. If
I were to be treated like shit by a woman I'm in a relationship with, I'd
walk straight out of that woman's life and never once turn back- I know that
I would, I've had to in the past.

Sorry to hear this, sounds like you're not going with the right men. Not
all men are like you describe.

Again, I wouldn't- so your statement is flawed.

My statement is flawed how? Logically? Contextually? Frank, I was
speaking from a woman's perspective... unless you can quote a long list
of boyfriends you've had in the past few years, I can hardly believe
you can categorize your experiences in the same frame of reference as
mine or any other woman's.

Now, before you create another Usegroup called
"alt.nfilipov.die.die.die" , consider this: one of my best friends -
this guy named John - called me expressly to complain about the fact
that I sent him this bitchy e-mail. I told him about the fact that I
received numerous messages concerning the statement I made on a few
Usenet newsgroups, i.e. the one stating the fact that men like (I mean,
*love*) to be treated like shit, and he - as did all of you -
automatically denied that this was the case.
I pointed out , however, that he only called me after I sent this
insulting message ... before that, I forwarded all kinds of humorous
posts, messages, whatever - he rarely responded w/ more than a
one-phrase message. Once I bitched or complained, however, he
responded.
And you know what? He laughed. And agreed.
To quote: "men have to conquer things, including women. Once they're
nice to you, you know you've won and you have to move on to other
things."

Any comments? (And don't tell me he's a freak among guys... I've taken
informal polls, and they pretty much point to the same thing.)

As for simple indifference, it's probably the perceived challenge to
their ability to win a woman. But as far as _I'm_ concerned, either
indifference or hostility is a sign that I'm wasting my time -- if I
knock on a door and get no answer, I may knock once or twice more on
the chance that they just didn't hear me the first time, but I see no
reason to bloody my knuckles if no one is going to answer the door.
And if they yank the door open and yell at me, I'm _gone_.

Okay, so we open the door demurely and all that...the
problem is that the last hundred times we did that it was
some dork peddling vaccum cleaners or they ran the other

I am a man and I would have to say this statement is very sad but true. Men
seem to want to go through a little turmoil to get what they want.

But women are very misleading at times.... A man hears one thing but the
woman is usually saying something different. I guess it is a matter of the
point of view.

But in any case I know I have been treated like crap several times over the
past 6 months by one woman and I keep going back for more. So go ahead flame
me and call me a week pathetic fool but I do agree with Natasha's Statement.

Just my 2 cents

You may probably right. But, it's true irrespective of sexes. People are
looking for excitement. Only the BAD ones (boys or girls) can be intrigueing.
If one's a nice person then he or she is predictable. There's nothing exciting
about them.

One other thing is there's nothing like good or bad in a true relationship,
or so was I felt. All it matters is how credible one can be.

Just my thoughts ......

What is it with some women who love the abuse men can give them? I've
been in a very fullfilling and stable relationship for the past five
years and see all the games that are played. I think who ever plays
dating games don't have a identity for themselfs. If they did they
would be content with showing their real persona.

Two thoughts come to mind--
Maybe this is the syndrone where we all want the most what we can't
have. After all, if it costs alot it must be really good?

Secondly the fetish theory. One needs only to browse thru alt.sex to
disccover that men are more than prone to fetishes. Is guess its a sex
thing, but you tell me. Perhaps these men are more obsessive than dedicated?

How sad for you. That ALL MEN in your life only respond to shit. There is a
saying that we gravitate to others at our self-image level. We )all folks, not
men/women, but people) are most comfortable when surrounded by others in the
same basic mind-set, the same 'place' in their life.

I have found this to be true. When I was expecting to get treated like *shit*,
i did. and responded in kind. When I truly =began to live like life was worth
more than that, I immediatley began to meet people who didn't treat me bad, and
would not tolerate the same. I met someone who expected, at a deep deep level,
to be treated with respect, firendship, tolerance. She responded in kind.

we're married now.

Men love being treated like shit? Thats not true. I have had so
many females play stupid little games on me and I left. I myself am
tired of little games and being treated like shit. You try to look for
a good meaningful relationship now a days and you find nothing but
little games..

If we follow your logic to the extreme, then your method of attacting
a man to you, would be to refuse to have anything to do with him,
especially sex! If he is unable to "conquer" you, then with him being
who he is, he will marry you in order to "conquer" you! After the
marriage, however you will still say no, in order to keep him, since
all that he wants to do is conquer you!

No thanks I perfer a mutual agreement, that both of us conquer and
surrender at the same time. Sometimes she will be the leader and
sometimes I will be the leader! I don't want a full time slave, nor
do I want to be a slave! I don't want to conquer anyone, nor do I
want to be conquered!

I have dated women like you in the past, and each different version of
you, got exactly one date. Why bother playing headgames? All you
will find is men that will play head games on you!

And how do you develop it within you?

It's as simple to wake up one day and say "I'm confident! I'm happy!" as
it is for a dead battery to suddenly recharge itself.

Think on that.

Codependence springs to mind as I read of the never ending
adventures of Natasha. Until she feels she, as an individual,
has reached a level of not needing boy/toys to play with, she
will continue to accumulate those who are of the mindset to
have a young beauty step on them, assisting them in their
growth down the path of masochisim.

It's not alway like that...there are a lot of nice people around who
just want to have a nice, loving relationship...It's just a challenge
to find them!

And here's where it gets complicated. How to determine what someone's
INTENTIONS and REASONS are for their actions seperately from the
effect they have on YOU.

Mike,
I don't think that women are intentionally misleading, but I agree that
communication is a problem. I dated a guy for several years and it was
not unusual for me to say something and him to hear something else. For
example: I would be upset about something at work and would just want to
talk it out. He would think that I wanted advice and would get upset
when I didn't take his advice. He couldn't understand that I mostly
wanted to vent, and that I had already decided how to take care of the
problem (if I hadn't already taken care of it.)

IMO, and I'm generalizing here, men want to take care of the woman,
whether she needs to be taken care of or not, and part of that is solving
her problems. I think that this is admirable, however, I wished that he
would wait until I asked for help before jumping in and giving it.

I know that this works the other way too. He would ask me if I liked
doing something, and I would respond "yes". What he was really asking
was 'did I want to do that now' and I didn't always.

IMO, women and men mean different things even though they use the same
words, and this causes problems.

Take a look at the book /Women are from Venus, Men are from Mars/, in the
chapter titled "Mr. Fixit and the Home Improvement Comittee." You'll
find some facinating stuff along these lines.

I haven't yet read the book, only brief parts, but it seems to make
a lot of very rational explanations of common behavioral differences
between men and women, that often result in acrimony or misunderstanding.

If a man told me about a problem at work, he is generally asking for
advice and not just venting. We do think different! However as for
not taking the advice, he was weird!

Free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it!

We are not spending enough time learning about how we think different,
we are spending too much time complaining about it! The guy
misundersood you and you misunderstood him!
